House to Vote April 12-13 on Eliminating Tax-Funded Abortion

On April 12 and 13, the U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a major right-to-life bill. H.R.3, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, would permanently prohibit the use of your federal taxpayer dollars to fund abortions across the entire federal government. This bill is authored by Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL).

For the past 30 years, Congress has restricted federal funding of abortions by amending a patchwork of bills every year. Year after year, National Right to Life and its affiliates like Wisconsin Right to Life have supported amendments to a myriad of federal laws to prevent such funding. None of these amendments apply to Obamacare where federal subsidies for abortion are permissible.

H.R. 3 would replace this leaky patchwork with a permanent prohibition on federal funding of abortion and federal subsidies for health plans that cover abortion. It would apply to both long-existing programs and new programs created by Obamacare.
