Abortion

Saddest. Birthday. Ever.

Oct. 16, 2016 marks Planned Parenthood’s 100th birthday.

WRTL’s parent organization, National Right to Life, has put together an “action packet” to help expose Planned Parenthood’s REAL work: killing unborn babies.

More than 6.7 million lives have been lost in Planned Parenthood facilities. It is imperative that we expose what Planned Parenthood really does, and what they really stand for!

Here’s what you can do throughout the month of October:

1.) Write a letter to the editor in your local newspaper. Find samples here.

2.) Share these social media images below along with the link www.saddestbirthdayever.com. (Find them on WRTL’s Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts!)

3.) Pass out this literature and ask people to sign this petition at community events, on your campus, in your churches, and to your friends.

4.) Share any of these articles online:

Nick and Bonnie, We Are Here for You

Wisconsin Right to Life was recently contacted about a GoFundMe page for Nick and Bonnie, who are asking for funds to travel to Chicago to get an abortion for their 20-week-old unborn child who was diagnosed with a terminal disability.

Wisconsin Right to Life pushed for the passage of the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act for families just like Nick and Bonnie and their unborn child. Because we supported this law for them, we have a special message for them as written below. Please, please help us share this message in hopes that they, and families like them, will see it and receive the hope that the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act provides them.

Nick and Bonnie,

We at Wisconsin Right to Life want you to know that you are not alone, and that we want to help your family in this difficult time. You deserve to be empowered with all relevant information to your situation and you deserve extensive support.

We want you to know that facing a life-limiting prenatal diagnosis is incredibly difficult, but that there is hope for your unborn child. First and foremost, we encourage you to seek out a second opinion on your prenatal diagnosis. Not all prenatal diagnoses are correct – one popular test can be incorrect up to 50% of the time in providing a positive result that a child has a disability, as the New England Center for Investigative Reporting discovered. We don’t want you to make an irreversible decision based on faulty information, because you all deserve better.

Also know that there are many life-affirming options available to you. If you give your child the gift of life, no matter how short your child’s life may be, know that the Salchert family right here in Wisconsin is ready and happy to take in your child and love him or her for as long as time allows. You can learn more at www.safehaven4babies.org. If you choose to give your child the gift of life and wish to be with your child in his or her last moments, Hope After Loss is an organization more than happy to walk with you in your journey of grief and healing, and their website is www.hopeafterloss.org.

Please know that both you and your unborn child deserve to be spared from the pain of abortion. Your child’s diagnosis will not detract from his or her ability to feel pain from an abortion procedure at 20 weeks post-fertilization age, nor will it spare you from the pain of prematurely losing your little one.

Know that you don’t have to make this decision immediately. If you need someone to talk to in a non-judgmental and caring environment, call First Care Clinic at 608-259-1605. They are willing to listen and help you, before and after pregnancy, and whether or not you decide to abort.

We are here for you and your unborn child, and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is here to give your family hope.

-Wisconsin Right to Life

P.S. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 414-778-5780 – we are here for you, and we are happy to listen to you and answer any questions you have.

UNLIMITED Abortions (What Will Happen Without Our Right-to-Life Leaders)

Friends,

Wisconsin is very fortunate to have a pro-life Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General for the past few years, along with pro-life majorities in both houses of the state legislature.

But have you ever wondered what it would be like if the roles were reversed? If, instead, we had pro-abortion leaders in Madison?

Well, we don’t have to wonder. Several bills were recently introduced by the pro-abortion minority in Madison which give us a clear picture of how quickly abortion would expand if abortion advocates were in power.

What are these bills?

  • Assembly Bill 970 would force pro-life organizations to hire pro-abortion advocates.
  • Assembly Bill 969 would, based on the mere perception of abortion advocates, potentially criminalize the advertising of pro-life pregnancy resource centers for the services they provide to women.
  • Assembly Bill 880 would not only repeal almost every pro-life law that we have fought so hard for in our state, it would create a phony “right of conscience” for pro-abortion physicians at religiously-affiliated hospitals to perform abortions.
  • Assembly Bill 916 would repeal Wisconsin’s long-standing statute outlawing abortions in our state. When Roe v. Wade is overturned, this statute would immediately make abortion illegal in Wisconsin — something abortion advocates clearly don’t want!

Thanks to our pro-life leaders, it is unlikely these bills will become law.

However, that could very easily change. If we lose our pro-life leadership, bills like these could become the law of the land in Wisconsin.

What can you do to make sure bills like these don’t become law?

Help us work against pro-abortion legislation and educate the public – Give to our General Fund.

Abortion advocates are like wolves waiting outside our door. Please help us keep them away!

Yours In Life,

Chelsea Shields

Legislative Director of Wisconsin Right to Life

Man Behind Planned Parenthood Videos Indicted

A Texas grand jury has ignored the videos exposing a Houston-based Planned Parenthood abortion clinic caught selling aborted baby body parts and has instead indicted the man behind producing the expose’ videos.

The video of the Houston Planned Parenthood makes it appear the Planned Parenthood abortion business may be selling the “fully intact” bodies of unborn babies purposefully born alive and left to die. The video shows the Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, Melissa Farrell, advertising the Texas Planned Parenthood branch’s track record of fetal tissue sales, including its ability to deliver fully intact aborted babies.

In the video, actors posing as representatives from a human biologics company meet with Farrell at the abortion-clinic headquarters of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston to discuss a potential partnership to harvest fetal organs.

But today, Texas grand jury indicted David Daleiden and another pro-life activist behind the videos. Instead of prosecuting Planned Parenthood for selling aborted baby parts, Daleiden was indicted for buying them.

“Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson announced Monday that Center for Medical Progress founder David Daleiden was indicted on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record and a misdemeanor count related to purchasing human organs. Another activist was also indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record,” the Associated Press reported. “A news release announcing the indictment doesn’t say what the record was. Anderson said the grand jury cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing.”

If convicted, Daleiden faces 20 years in prison while Planned Parenthood officials face no legal consequences for their actions.

The grand jury’s decision comes even after state officials raided several Planned Parenthood facilities in an unprecedented move that followed on the heels of pro-life Governor Greg Abbott announcing earlier in the week that the state would further de-fund the abortion business.

In fact, Governor Abbott’s office informed LifeNews that the state investigation of Planned Parenthood continues:

“The Health and Human Service Commission’s Inspector General and the Attorney General’s office have an ongoing investigation into Planned Parenthood’s actions,” said Governor Abbott. “Nothing about today’s announcement in Harris County impacts the state’s ongoing investigation. The State of Texas will continue to protect life, and I will continue to support legislation prohibiting the sale or transfer of fetal tissue.”

Before it began its work, pro-life advocates were concerned about the grand jury and undue influence by abortion activists.

Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson promised a thorough investigation of the Planned Parenthood abortion business. But a Planned Parenthood board member works as a prosecutor in the district attorney’s office.

Planned Parenthood could be breaking the federal law known as the Born Alive Infants Protection Act that requires abortion clinics, hospitals and other places that do abortions to provide appropriate medical care for a baby born alive after a failed abortion or purposefully birthed to “let die.” That would be one of the potential ways Planned Parenthood could produce a “fully intact” baby to sell to StemExpress for research. Most “crunchy” abortion methods would do damage to the baby’s body.

“Where we probably have an edge over other organizations, our organization has been doing research for many many years,” explains Farrell in the video. When researchers need a specific part from the aborted fetus, Farrell says, “We bake that into our contract, and our protocol, that we follow this, so we deviate from our standard in order to do that.”

Asked specifically if this means Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast can change abortion procedures to supply intact fetal specimens, Farrell affirms, “Some of our doctors in the past have projects and they’re collecting the specimens, so they do it in a way that they get the best specimens, so I know it can happen.”

The investigators ask Farrell how she will frame a contract in which they pay a higher price for higher quality fetal body parts, and she replies, “We can work it out in the context of–obviously, the procedure itself is more complicated,” suggesting that “without having you cover the procedural cost” and paying for the abortion, the higher specimen price could be framed as “additional time, cost, administrative burden.”

Farrell finally summarizes her affiliate’s approach to fetal tissue payments: “If we alter our process, and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers, we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this. It’s all just a matter of line items.”

Farrell also indicates to the investigators over lunch that the specimen sales from her department contribute significantly to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s overall finances: “I think everyone realizes, especially because my department contributes so much to the bottom line of our organization here, you know we’re one of the largest affiliates, our Research Department is the largest in the United States. Larger than any the other affiliates’ combined.”

At one point in the video, Planned Parenthood staff show off the body of a 20-week old twin baby aborted and sold for parts.

Planned Parenthood of WI Caught Red-Handed

A recent open records request made by the Alliance Defending Freedom revealed that Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin did, in fact, donate fetal tissue to UW-Madison.

From their report

News of the baby parts exchange between Planned Parenthood and UW first broke on the ADF “Freedom Matters” podcast last Friday. The documents ADF obtained through its state records request include forms and letters from the university and its researchers clearly indicating their arrangement with Planned Parenthood to obtain the baby parts, which were used in medical research that resulted in published studies on fetal hearts and fetal brains in 2014.

According to one of the published studies, UW researchers obtained hearts and brains from babies aborted “between 10 and 18 weeks of gestational age” within five minutes of the procedure. “After the procedure, the heart was grasped with sterilized surgical instruments and carefully isolated from the rest of the thoracic content to be placed in RNAse-free plastic tubes. Fetal brain was also collected in the same fashion.” The documents ADF obtained prove the university obtained the hearts and brains from Planned Parenthood.”

Considering this, the following statements from Planned Parenthood of WI need some serious explanation:

43 Years and 58 Million Lives Later

Today marks 43 years since the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision when abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy became the law of the land nationwide.

I was lucky; my mom chose life for me. But, as I look around and go about life, I always wonder who we are we missing in our society. Who is not with us, out of the 58 million whose lives had a different ending than mine; those who were dismembered in the womb, rather than given the gift of life?

As I reflect on where we are now as a nation and where we need to go as a nation, I know that life is the most basic of all human rights. A basic right that is easy to take for granted for those of us alive right now.

We are making progress in protecting the most vulnerable and being a voice for the voiceless, but our work will not be finished until every life is protected, from the moment of fertilization to natural death.

There are ways you can become involved in the pro-life movement. Join your local Right to Life Chapter, work to educate others on the value of life, volunteer some time at a pregnancy center where alternatives to abortion are available, and speak to our representatives who have the ability to make lifesaving laws.

Take a moment today to remember the 58 million lives that have been lost to abortion.  Whether you are marching in Washington, DC, participating in a local event, or simply taking a moment of silence, remember we have all been affected by the tragedy of abortion.

Until our most basic human right, the right to life, is fully respected in our society and fully protected under the law, we will not stop our efforts to educate Wisconsin about the reality of abortion, and to pass laws to protect unborn children.

New Poll Shows Americans are Pro-Life on Abortion as Roe v. Wade Turns 43

As Roe v. Wade turns 43 this week and Americans mark more than four decades of unlimited abortions, new polling data shows they want a change in the direction of protecting unborn children.A new national poll shows a strong majority of Americans — including a majority of those who consider themselves “pro-choice” on abortion — support substantial abortion limits. That’s according to

A new national poll shows a strong majority of Americans — including a majority of those who consider themselves “pro-choice” on abortion — support substantial abortion limits. That’s according to a new national survey of 1,686 adults conducted at the end of November by the Marist Institute for Public Opinion at Marist University.

Here’s a list of the findings:

The survey found that more than 8 in 10 Americans (81 percent), including women (82 percent) and nearly two-thirds of pro-choice supporters (66 percent), would restrict abortion to — at most — the first three months of pregnancy. The answer to this question has been approximately 8 in 10 since the survey was launched in 2008.

Additionally, 77 percent of Americans, including 79 percent of women and 71 percent of “pro-choice” supporters, say that laws can protect both a mother and her unborn child. Only about 1 in 5 (17 percent of Americans, 15 percent of women, 23 percent of pro-choice identifiers) disagree.

The poll also found majorities of Americans see abortion as both ultimately harmful to women and morally wrong.

By a 25-point margin, Americans (55 to 30 percent) say that abortion ultimately does a woman more harm than good. A similar proportion of women agree (56 percent to 31 percent). More than 1 in 4 who identify as pro-choice (27 percent) also share this view.

Six in 10 Americans (60 percent), including 61 percent of women, say abortion is “morally wrong.” One-third of pro-choice Americans agree (33 percent).

In addition, nearly 7 in 10 Americans (68 percent), including 69 percent of women, oppose taxpayer funding of abortion. This includes 51 percent of those who consider themselves pro-choice. Fewer than 3 in 10 Americans (29 percent) support it.

Similarly, more than 6 in 10 Americans (61 percent), including 60 percent of women, support laws that would ban abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy, except to save the life of the mother. The percentage was the same for pro-choice supporters (62 percent).

Fifty-one percent of Americans — including 50 percent of women — believe health care providers and organizations should have the right to opt out of providing abortion services if they have moral objections. About 4 in 10 (42 percent) of both groups disagree. Notably, even one-third (34 percent) of those who identify as pro-choice would protect the right to opt out.

The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic organization, commissioned the university to take the poll and the head of the group said the polling data shows it’s time to dramatically change U.S. abortion law to limit abortions further.

“Year in and year out since we began polling on this issue, the American people have understood that the law can protect mother and child alike and have expressed a strong consensus in favor of abortion restrictions,” said Knights of Columbus CEO Carl Anderson. “It is time for a new national conversation on abortion — one that begins with this consensus in favor of restrictions: a consensus that American women and men have already reached, and that includes a majority even of those who call themselves pro-choice.”

It’s Time to Pass the Fetal Tissue Bill

Wisconsin has a pro-life State Senate, State Assembly, and Governor. They have protected life before, with the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, Sonya’s Law, the Coercive and Web Cam Abortion Prevention Act, and other important pieces of pro-life legislation that were all made into law. And now, Wisconsin’s legislative majorities and governor can prohibit the sale or use of body parts of aborted unborn babies for research with AB 305/SB 260.

What our leaders in state government need right now is encouragement – maybe even a nudge – to move forward with the fetal tissue bill. The reality is, very powerful and moneyed interests who profit off of fetal tissue are pressuring our leaders to back off of a bill that honestly puts a fairly meager limit on the abortion industry, and a very reasonable ethical limit on our research industry. While every day, unborn children are torn apart limb from limb at abortion facilities, all that the fetal tissue bill asks for is that these children’s organs are not peddled for profit. We should not add to Planned Parenthood’s profit margin by embedding the need for abortion into our research industry in Wisconsin. And our research industry can do better in a state where we know ethical alternatives to abortion-derived tissue exist.

Our leaders understand that unborn children cannot be used as a means to an end. They know we have an opportunity here in Wisconsin to lead the nation with a research industry that can truly heal without harm. And they know that we cannot incentivize abortion by fueling an unethical and so-called “need” for fetal tissue.

That’s why our legislators need a push to make sure this bill passes before this legislative session ends. We need them to stand up in caucus, to ask for a vote, and get this to the Governor’s desk. Please, give them a call, encourage them to get this fetal tissue bill done, and even come to Madison for the Rally for Life on Jan. 12th.
